Position Title: Scholar Program Coordinator
Job Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Admissions, the Scholar Program Coordinator (SPC) supports the enrollment of the very best and brightest candidates for undergraduate admissions through the development and oversight of the scholarship programs related to private, donor established or supported scholars programs. These include, but are not limited to, programs such as the Harvey Scholars, the Daniels Fund Scholars, and Daniels Opportunity Scholarship recipients, the Boettcher Scholars, and Enrichment Program recipients, and the Denver Scholarship Fund (DSF) recipients. This position assists and advises current scholars in multiple programs, monitors academic performance of scholars, promotes the mission of Mines through the development and implementation of recruitment, admission, enrollment and retention programs and plans to meet scholar program goals. The SPC is the lead contact in Admissions for continuing and prospective scholars. The position serves as a liaison with other campus offices such as Financial Aid and Office of International Programs, the CSM Foundation, and external constituents such as the Denver Scholarship Foundation, the Daniels Fund, etc.


The SPC is responsible to create, implement and expand scholarship programs to align with donor intent while fostering student scholarship recipients’ success as scholars and students at Mines. The SPC works in close collaboration with Financial Aid to ensure that program creation and enhancement is in compliance with all institutional, State and Federal guidelines. Position serves as a liaison to private, individual, corporate and foundation donors, in partnership with the Mines Foundation. The SPC provides routine comprehensive review of best practices to ensure the Enrollment Management team is reaching and communicating with our prospective student and current Scholar populations in a consistent and targeted way to achieve the enrollment goals as defined by the strategic goals of the university and donor intentions. The SPC serves as an integral member of the Admissions team and is involved in the recruitment, admissions, identification and enrollment of future scholars. This is a full time, 12-month, administrative faculty professional exempt position.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience in  college student services with progressive demonstration and responsibility in project management. Experience must include understanding of college admissions, recruitment, student or scholar program advising and coordination
  • Must have the ability to balance multiple priorities, responsibilities, and projects simultaneously
  • Must be detail oriented and possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills  
  • Must possess a strong sense of customer service and the ability to interact with parents, students, staff, faculty and donors in a positive manner
Preferred Qualifications:  Experience facilitating a scholars program or representing scholars
Department Description: The Undergraduate Admissions Office recruits, admits, and enrolls undergraduate students and provides guidance on admissions processes and standards, university information, and campus visitation programs to prospective students and families.
