Position Title: Associate Treasurer
Job Description: The Associate Treasurer is a senior member of the Administration and Operations Division reporting directly to the Executive Vice President (EVP)/COO/CFO and Treasurer. The Associate Treasurer is primarily responsible for strategic financial operations including all aspects of balance sheet management from cash and investment management and the related operations, liability management, strategic financing, as well as other strategic initiatives. The Associate Treasurer is also responsible for analyzing, assessing and addressing potential legislative actions that could have an impact to the university. The position’s overall responsibilities includes but not limited to: assisting the EVP in his/her strategic and essential functions; possessing a strong understanding of the EVP’s duties and serves as the primary backup to the EVP in matters related to balance sheet management and strategic financing; providing input on asset/liability balancing strategies to improve overall financial performance; and planning, developing, and managing relationships and services of internal and external constituents. This position is expected to be results driven, collaborative, as well as demonstrate and execute projects using complex problem solving skills and making impactful decisions on behalf of the University.
Responsibilities:

Primary areas of responsibility are debt management, cash and investment management, strategic financing, and other strategic initiatives. Responsibilities include assisting the EVP in his/her strategic and essential functions; possessing a strong understanding of the EVP’s duties and serving as the primary backup to the EVP in matters related to balance sheet management and strategic financing; providing input on asset/liability balancing strategies to improve overall financial performance; and planning, developing, and managing relationships and services of internal and external constituents. This position is expected to be results driven, collaborative, as well as demonstrate and execute projects using complex problem solving skills and making impactful decisions on behalf of the University.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BA or BS degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Significant progressive professional experience in finance, investment, or banking, or with the financial function of a large organization, which included experience dealing with debt or investment issues and with cash and investment practices
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and under pressure, to manage multiple concurrent tasks and responsibilities, and to deal with changing priorities, while maintaining personal effectiveness
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, other University personnel, and the public
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional experience in finance, credit or a related area
  • Experience working with long-term, tax-exempt debt
  • Knowledge of and experience with financial models, cost/benefits analysis and investment analysis
  • MBA or related advanced degree in finance, accounting or related area from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Professional experience with capital budgeting processes
  • Prior experience with treasury office functions
  • Certified Treasury Professional (CTP)
  • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA)
Department Description: The Administration and Operations Division provides strategic support and service to the university through oversight and management of all financial, operational, and administrative functions of the University.
