Position Title: Web Content Specialist
Job Description: The Web Content Specialist promotes and advances the reputation of the school and its programs by creating, updating and maintaining the content on the university’s website, and ensures that content is optimized for search engines. This position reports to the Managing Editor and, along with the Managing Editor, serves as a key point of contact between the communications office and the technical teams responsible for the website’s functionality. While this is primarily a content position, web development and design skills will be needed to complete this position’s responsibilities. Also, the position will be responsible for managing the university’s main internal communications vehicle, the Daily Blast.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage the submission and approval process for the Daily Blast (Mines’ internal communication email digest). 
  • Curate website submissions and enhance and maintain existing content. 
  • Create new content for the website and other marketing channels and materials. 
  • Become a campus expert in the content management system.  
  • Work closely with academic and administrative offices to assure the consistency and quality of web content.  
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, digital marketing, English or related field.
  • Documented proficiency in both written and graphical communications.
  • Professional experience in writing, editing and curating copy for websites or other digital media.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with WordPress or similar Content Management Systems.
  • Professional experience with and ability to use, produce, acquire and edit multimedia data such as photos and videos.
  • Knowledge and understanding of best search engine optimization practices, and experience creating optimized web content.
  • Ability to conduct interviews and to write clear and concise prose to relay information from those interviews.
  • Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office, and experience using design software such as InDesign.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
