Position Title: The Engineering, Design, & Society (EDS) Stakeholder Relations Manager
Responsibilities:

The Engineering, Design, & Society (EDS) Division offers a variety of educational programs that feature open-ended design problem solving, decision analysis, socio-technical communications, and teamwork skills development. These programs employ human-centered design, community engagement, and client-driven design challenges to offer students in real-world projects that matter for stakeholders beyond the university. Every semester the Division hosts over 50 student design teams, each of which needs to identify a meaningful design challenge. Additionally, the Division must coordinate and nurture diverse relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure continuity of project offerings, program funding, alumni and donor relations, and program visibility.

The primary responsibilities of the Stakeholder Relations Manager include:

  1. Business development;
  2. Outreach and marketing, including website development and content management;
  3. Contract management; 
  4. Program operations and administration.

The successful candidate will identify, develop, and maintain sponsored design projects; efficiently manage the flow of projects (e.g., follow leads, screen candidates using program-specific criteria); secure funding and non-financial support for wide-ranging projects; identify projects that align with diverse learning objectives related to EDS’s programs; and assist students, faculty, and staff with all phases of project execution. The successful candidate will also execute a strategic vision for program outreach and be able to work with diverse stakeholders, including industry partners, government agencies, NGOs and other non-profits, community groups (especially those representing poor communities), small start-ups, foundations and government funding agencies, university partners, and individual clients such as alumni, school boosters and donors, and faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
  • Significant professional experience with stakeholder or client-relationship development; project management; and outreach;
  • Competency with computer technology, including word processing, spreadsheets, basic website development, and use of social media; and
  • Proficiency with persuasive communication, both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A degree in engineering, communication/social sciences, business/project administration, or related area;
  • Experience with program marketing and promotion;
  • Experience with finance and managing contracts;
  • Experience with educational service learning; and
  • Work experience within a technical or educational setting.
