Associate Director of Budget - Academic Affair

Job Description:

The Associate Director of Budget - Academic Affairs position is a critical member of the Budget Office reporting directly to the Budget Director with a dotted line to the Provost. The Associate Director of Budget - Academic Affairs position provides primary support, guidance, and oversight for fiscal operations of the full portfolio of operations encompassing Academic Affairs. Additionally, this position is responsible for the management of the academic allocation and productivity models, procedural documentation, budgeting system implementation, and the communication of financial data into high-level summary reports. This position supervises two business analysts who provide primary customer support on fiscal matters to units reporting to the Provost.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Academic Affairs operating budget
  • Provide guidance, train, and supervise the daily activities of Academic Affairs business analysts
  • Enrollment, Tuition, and Total Cost of Attendance Models
  • Academic Allocation Model and Productivity Models
  • Financial Aid Model and Graduate Support Strategy
  • Academic Affairs Salary Budgets: Faculty Promotion and Tenure, Startup Packages, and Salary Increases
  • Benchmarking and Ad-hoc Reporting
  • Assist the Budget Director and other budget staff with the implementation of new budget and reporting systems
  • Develop Procedural Documentation

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Require a Baccalaureate degree in accounting, finance or other related field with progressive experience in financial accounting or budgeting
  • Advanced proficiency with Window-based software packages involving spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and presentation applications
  • Experience working with large complex data sets
  • Experience with training and excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Critical and strategic thinking
  • Ability to perform robust financial analysis
  • Independent problem solving abilities
  • effective and collaborative interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage simultaneous, high-profile projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • active Certified Public Accountant licensure
  • progressive experience with higher education fund accounting, budget and projection modeling, and cost accounting as applied to academic operations and business processes
  • Banner, Oracle-based or similar financial system experience

Total Rewards:

Starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
