Position Title: Admissions Counselor-Women Focus
The Opportunity:

The Admissions Counselor is a full-time, 12-month, campus-based, administrative faculty professional exempt position in the undergraduate Admissions Office at Colorado School of Mines.  The position reports to the Director of Admissions, and is a member of the Enrollment Management team. The Admissions Counselor will promote the general goals and mission of Colorado School of Mines through the recruitment, admission and enrollment of a qualified and diverse undergraduate student body, to provide direct services for the academic support of prospective, new, and continuing students. To encourage and support student participation in all that the campus community has to offer both academically and socially, and emphasize student retention to graduation.

The position of the Admission Counselor exists to thoroughly engage in undergraduate recruitment efforts, through actively communicating the benefits of a Mines education to prospective students, their parents, counselors and other community organizations. The Admissions Counselor is primarily responsible for visiting high schools, advising prospective students and their families on admissions to Mines, and evaluating applications for admission, encouraging enrollment and other general Admissions Office activities.  In addition, the Admissions Counselor will serve as the lead Admissions staff person in identifying, developing and facilitating Mines’ women recruiting efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid driver’s license, and current, valid personal auto insurance. 
  • Moderate amounts of demonstrated experience working in a student services office within a high school, pre-collegiate program or college setting with students including those from socially, racially and ethnically diverse populations. 
  • Strong public speaking, written and oral communication skills are required. 
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and be highly detail-oriented. 
  • Travel needs of the positions require successful applicants to be experienced both working independently as well as within a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a college or university admissions office.
  • Familiarity with integrated student information systems (i.e., Banner or similar system), constituent relationship management systems, as well as word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
