Position Title: Proposal Analyst
Job Description:

This position exists to assist faculty in developing research and other sponsored proposals by formulating, compiling, reviewing, and submitting proposal documents on behalf of the Colorado School of Mines. The Proposal Analyst is responsible for advising faculty about funding sources, sponsoring agency rules and regulations, and Colorado School of Mines policies and procedures.

  • Review research and other sponsored proposals for external funding to assure that the proposals comply with School, state of Colorado and sponsoring agency regulations. Determine the completeness of proposals by ensuring all agency and School requirements are met and necessary forms and certifications are prepared.
  • Work with faculty to create institutionally approved  proposal budgets by applying knowledge  of a variety of cost information such as School and agency policies.
  • Coordinate the information dissemination and proposal submission process for the School's sub-recipients, subcontractors, or third party contributors.
  • Ensure accurate data is entered into the Cayuse Research Suite software and assists with faculty training on proposal submission, tracking and reporting processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Baccalaureate degree in business or related field. Work experience or associates degree/certification which provided the same kind, amount and level of knowledge acquired for a BA may be substituted for the degree
  • Professional work experience in proposal preparation
  • Skill in fostering a cooperative work environment
  • Skill in analyzing and solving problems
  • Ability to critically analyze information in order to make an independent decision
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to multitask
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in business or related field
  • Knowledge of regulations governing sponsored research
Department Description: The Office of Research Administration’s (ORA) mission is to provide administrative and business support to faculty engaged in the research enterprise. ORA assists with proposal preparation, contract and grant negotiation and acceptance, expense monitoring, financial reporting, billing and accounts receivable and financial closeout of a research project. ORA also provides training to faculty and staff, initiates and implements policies and procedures, serves as a liaison with project sponsors and ensures compliance with federal, state and School rules, regulations and policies.
