Position Title
Payne Institute for Public Policy - COMET/ESG Researcher
The Opportunity

Researcher sought for full-time position at the Payne Institute for Public Policy at the Colorado School of Mines.  The research will focus on multi-dimensional aspects of the increasing demand for critical minerals and metals due to the ongoing changes in the energy and defense sectors.

Rigorous analytical modeling work will consider changing demand, and how it affects markets, trade, security, geopolitics, prices, and technology development. The integrated approach will produce a tool that can be used to answer a wide variety of related questions.

The successful applicant will also provide mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students on the project; maintaining an accepting work environment, and assisting with research group management. Women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Initial one year contract period, with possible extension. 

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mining or metallurgical engineering, statistics, economics or closely related discipline.
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and research skills
  • 0-2 Years Experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree or PhD in mining or metallurgical engineering, statistics, economics or closely related discipline.
  • Publication  record, as proven by peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, or  technical books.
  • US citizenship is strongly preferred but not required.

Pay Range

$60k - $70k

Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
