The Multicultural Engineering program was established at Colorado School of Mines in 1989 with the mission to help recruit, retain, and graduate students who are historically underrepresented in STEM, and to promote inclusive and equitable opportunities and education for faculty, staff, and students. After nine years of combined leadership at Mines and within MEP, the Director and Assistant Director for MEP independently resigned to pursue exciting professional opportunities outside post-secondary education. The future Director and Assistant Director of MEP will honor decades of noteworthy community and support within MEP. Additionally, they will advance and modernize MEP so as to support the increasing number of historically underrepresented students at Mines and the Mines Diversity, Inclusion, and Access Strategic Plan. Advancement and modernization will be done alongside a new senior leadership Student Life administrator focused on equity and diversity (AVP of Student Life for Equity and Engagement; anticipated start January 2022). The MEP Director and Assistant Director will ideally start January 2022. MEP will report to the AVP of Student Life for Equity and Engagement.
