Post-Doctoral Researcher sought for full-time position in the Department of Physics for a project in collaboration with Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). In this project, we are using theoretical, computational, and experimental tools to investigate the physics of near-threshold electrostatic discharges in gases, primarily in air.  The successful applicant will also provide mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students on the project; maintaining excellent lab safety and a diverse, accepting work environment; and assisting with research group management. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • PhD in physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or closely related discipline. 
  • Effective written and oral interpersonal skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Publication and innovation record, as proven by peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, technical books, or issued patents.
  • Training and expertise in plasma physics and low temperature (several eV) plasma chemistry.
  • Experience in optical and laser diagnostics of plasmas, ultrafast laser techniques and high-voltage/pulse power.
  • Experience in numerical modeling (we use the Comsol Multiphysics platform). US citizenship is strongly preferred but not required.
