Position Title: Director of Web Strategy and Insights
The Opportunity: The Director of Web Strategy and Insights will be a key member of a team charged with helping Mines achieve its ambition of becoming a "top of mind, first-choice" university for undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff, and public and private partners over the next five years. The Director, reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, oversees the development of the university's number one marketing property (its website) while also building, supporting and improving associated digital marketing channels and tools to ensure that paid and organic marketing activities and expenditures serve and are served by the Mines website. Working closely with admissions, academic and student life leaders, the Director will build a comprehensive strategy and execute it while leading and motivating a small team of digital content developers, external vendors and an integrated team of campus stakeholders and clients.
Responsibilities:

Web Strategy and Management:

• Using insights provided by 2019-20 website audit, build, launch and execute a strategic plan for Mines.edu.
• Direct and support the ongoing development and upskilling of direct reports, campus partners and Communications and Marketing staff upon whose work the digital team relies.
• Devise and implement a robust SEO and Inbound Marketing strategy that draws organic online traffic to Mlnes.edu and associated properties.
• Identify and overcome user experience challenges on site.
• Ensure that Mines' Wordpress site meets local, state, national and international standards for privacy and data integrity.
• Ensure that Mines.edu is secure against known and unknown threats, now and into the future.
• Ensure the website meets federal and International accessibility standards.

Campus Leadership, Client Relations, Supervision:

• Lead client Interactions and ideation, building web and user experience execution plans for answering recruitment and marketing challenges.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures and activities that ensure the site is accessible, secure and durable.
• Build and implement procedures that assure that a broad network of users and content producers are well trained and well aware of their responsibilities on the site.
• Work directly with senior leaders, faculty and others to determine remedies to digital challenges, on the website as well as associated properties and tools.

Insight Tracking, Reporting and Tailoring Leadership:

• Manage relationships, tools and procedures to ensure that our digital work on the website and elsewhere is being tracked, understood and responded to.
• Select, implement and manage insight management tools and dashboards.
• Produce and present quarterly dashboard on web performance and marketing KPls.

Tool Development and Alignment:

• Develop and manage systems for supporting our digital outreach efforts and team priorities.
• Build new capabilities Into website and Internal communication channels through software development and integration.
• Advocate for marketing technology expenditures that impact the entire campus and beyond, based on individual experience and expertise.

Other duties as assigned:

• Serve as a backup to the Chief Marketing Officer in his/her/their absence.
• On occasion, this position may be assigned other duties needed to help drive to the vision, fulfill the mission, and uphold Mines' and the Department's organizational values.

Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree
• Progressive leadership experience in a web development role within a business-to-consumer enterprise, including a university or nonprofit
• Familiarity with Wordpress CMS preferred
• Practiced at collecting, reporting and acting on audience and interaction data
• Experience working in a fast-paced, outcomes-oriented organization
• Certifications in UX, Google Analytics, Hubspot Inbound, etc.
• Fluency with project management best practices and software
• Team player with management experience
