Position Title: Post Doctoral Fellow in High Temperature Fuel Cells

Pay Range:

$38,000 - $63,000

The Opportunity:

Professor Braun leads the Advanced Energy Systems Group at the Colorado School of Mines and is seeking a post-doctoral fellow to help lead hybrid solid oxide fuel cell system modeling, simulation and supervisory control efforts under an exciting U.S. DOE-funded ARPA-E project. The successful candidate is expected to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment within the Department, across the Mines campus, and with external partners.

Specifically, the candidate will:

  • Perform and assist coordination of high temperature fuel cell modeling & simulation efforts
  • Advise graduate students and lead project-related tasks towards meeting project goals and milestones.
  • Participate in kW-scale solid oxide fuel cell stack testing and model validation
  • Publish high impact archival journal papers and present at conferences
  • Collaborate with university researchers in the Colorado Fuel Cell Center and industry partners
  • Participate in multiple research project opportunities are possible including electrochemical systems based on protonic ceramics and reversible fuel cell systems for energy storage.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in mechanical or chemical engineering
  • Proficiency in computational modeling of electrochemical systems. Experience with solid oxide fuel cell systems is preferred.
  • Experience with gPROMS software platform, Engineering Equation Solver, Matlab, and Python is preferred.

  • Thermal and electrochemical SOFC system modeling, validation, and experimental collaboration
